ABOUT ME

I'm Rachael, I love taking photos, going on adventures, muddy boots, wild swims, Disaronno and dogs (my favourite dog is my 9 year old chocolate lab, Hunter - AKA. Hunny B).
When I'm not behind the camera photographing weddings you can find me exploring the UK, mainly the Lake District, in my trusty camper van, Patricia the Peugeot. I'm a sucker for that first walk in the sunshine after a long gloomy winter. I live for sunsets (mainly because I'm not a morning person, but this year I'm really trying to change that because I did not see enough sunrises in 2023). I'm my other half's number one fan, supporting him at his many gigs. You should definitely check him out if you're looking for a musician for your wedding by the way, because we LOVE working together - he's called Connor Walsh. He's also my adventure buddy and my rock and I wouldn't have it any other way.
If you've not already guessed, I LOVE to travel, I'm a true adventurer at heart and I will never stop exploring. Don't get me wrong, I also love sitting on the sofa in front of the cheesiest Netflix romcom and I'm a huge fan of scary films too...​
My love for photography has been age old, but taking it to a professional level is still quite new. I started my photography career in 2022, having only done it for fun up to that point, taking photos of landscapes and wildlife (highland cows being my favourite), over the two days a week I wasn't giving mortgage advice! It was a lightbulb moment when I first thought "this is what I want to do" and a lot of self-belief when I decided this is what I'm going to do! And now, here I am, with a beautiful array of gorgeous couples in my wedding photography portfolio and a thirst to capture even more.
Being able to spend everyday, not just two days a week adventuring with a camera in hand is definitely a perk of the "job". Some may say I'm lucky to be where I am, but trust me, there has been A LOT of work, effort and determination to build Rachael Stephenson Photography in to the successful business it is today, and it's the proudest thing I have done to date...

MY PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE
When I take photos, especially photos of weddings, engagements and elopements, I like to keep things natural and relaxed. I work in a documentary style, so it’s all about having some fun, being in love and using a little splash of direction, or as I like to say; prompts not poses, to help bring out your best bits in front of the camera.
I know all too well how important photographs are, sometimes, they are all we have left, but what is more important, is spending your wedding day with your family and friends, not being taken away for hours of posed photos. I am there to capture those natural moments of you and your guests together, and trust me, these are the ones you will treasure the most.

WHO ARE MY IDEAL CLIENTS?
Couples in love, with or without their dogs. I don't mind who you are or where you're getting married, as long as you're down to earth, laid back people who are up for a good time!

I'm a Canon girly, always have and always will be. I always have at least 4 cameras with me at weddings because backups are important. I'm currently using the Canon R6, with my favourite lenses, a 35mm and 85mm.
I'm fully insured. Some venues like to see that I have public liability insurance, so please just let me know if they need evidence and I can send this over!
