ABOUT RACHAEL STEPHENSON
Documentary Wedding Photographer & Filmmaker
If the idea of being in front of a camera makes you nervous, but you still want photos that feel natural, emotional, and truly you, you’re in the right place.
Here’s a little about me, how I work, and what you can expect...

I’m Rachael, a documentary-style wedding photographer and filmmaker, happiest with muddy boots, a camera in hand, and my chocolate lab Hunter (a.k.a. Hunny B) by my side.
I capture weddings across the UK in a natural, relaxed way, focusing on real moments, genuine emotion, and the little in-between bits that make your day feel like yours.

Life Outside the Camera
When I’m not photographing or filming love stories, you’ll probably find me hiking, wild swimming, or cheering on my very talented other half, Connor Walsh, an acoustic singer-songwriter and wedding musician (we love working together).
These days, I live full-time on the road in my motorhome, Moey. Whether I’m parked up in the Lake District, exploring the wild landscapes of Scotland, or chasing sunsets in Cornwall, this way of life naturally lends itself to the kind of weddings I love photographing, relaxed, outdoorsy celebrations in beautiful places.
That love for being outdoors and present shapes how I photograph weddings too. Calmly, intuitively, and with a focus on real connection, storytelling, and those quiet in-between moments that make your wedding feel truly yours.

MY APPROACH TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM
I believe the best wedding photos and films are natural, fun, and full of life. I’m a documentary-style wedding photographer and filmmaker based in the UK, capturing real moments and genuine emotion as your day unfolds. Exactly as it felt.
Think prompts, not poses.
That means gentle guidance when you need it, but mostly space to relax, be yourselves, and enjoy every moment without feeling watched or awkward in front of the camera.
Your wedding day isn’t about disappearing for hours of staged portraits. It’s about being present with your people, soaking it all in, and trusting that I’ll be there quietly documenting the meaningful in-between moments, the hugs, glances, laughter and calm, that you’ll look back on for years to come.
Alongside photography, I also create wedding highlight films that weave together movement, atmosphere, and storytelling, allowing you to truly relive the energy of your day. Because I already work in a documentary way, filming fits seamlessly alongside photography, with no staging, no re-doing moments, and no impact on how your day naturally flows.
Each highlight film is set to bespoke music composed and performed by Connor (my very talented other half), carefully crafted to reflect the pace, emotion, and feeling of your wedding.
Whether you book me for photography, film, or both, you’ll receive relaxed, storytelling-focused wedding coverage and timeless imagery. Highlight films can be added to any of my wedding photography packages, regardless of the length of coverage.
I work best with couples who are down-to-earth, kind, and not afraid to be themselves, whether you’re planning an adventurous elopement, a relaxed outdoor or Lake District wedding, or a big celebration surrounded by everyone you love (dogs always welcome).
Outside of weddings, I’m usually documenting life on the road, outdoor adventures, and the quieter moments in between, you can see more of that over on
I’m fully insured too, and can provide public liability insurance details to your venue if needed.
