A DREAM WEDDING AT SEDGEWELL BARN
NATALIE AND CHRIS TIE THE KNOT AT SEDGEWELL BARN

Just a few months ago, I was lucky enough to spend the day at the beautiful Sedgewell Barn in the glorious North Yorkshire countryside, photographing the wedding of Natalie and Chris. This is their wedding story…

· The wedding venue: Sedgewell Barn
· The lovely couple: Natalie & Chris
· The best bit: bridal reveal
· The time of year: September 2022
· The weather conditions: Moody skies & rain
Before I do anything else, I just have to tell you about Sedgewell Barn. It’s a beautiful wedding venue, one of my favourites in fact and taking wedding photos there was a dream. Natalie and Chris had the whole place to themselves, with exclusive use of all the facilities for their family and friends and that meant I had the privilege of handpicking all the best backdrops for their wedding photos and let me tell you, I was spoiled for choice. Their wedding took place across two barn spaces at Sedgewell Barn, one was used for the ceremony and the other was used for the reception. This created a really lovely transition in the wedding photos as the wedding moved from morning and afternoon into evening.

The space for the ceremony was more intimate and cosier, yet still flooded with lots and lots of natural light thanks to the dual aspect windows and full height ceilings. Exposed brickwork and wooden beams festooned with fairy lights all added to the ambience too and this feeling was something I was keen to capture in the wedding photos.

For the evening reception, the space was larger, with plenty of room for guests to dance and celebrate as the impressive NINE-piece band took to the stage. In here, skylights draped with light fabrics created a softer space and large windows really helped maximise the beautiful countryside views and gave me the perfect backdrop for some amazing photos.
A BRIDAL REVEAL WITH BROLLIES!

Chris and Natalie’s wedding started, for me at least, with the all-important bridal prep. The bride and bridesmaids were getting ready in one of the amazing glamping pods at Sedgewell Barn. They’re bijou and beautiful and in our case, provided the perfect shelter from the good old British weather! Rain’s no reason not to take fantastic photos though, and in the end the clear plastic umbrella’s became some of the best photo props we had all day. Take a look at the some of these fun photos taken of Natalie and her bridesmaids and they go from silk dressing gowns to beautiful dresses.
A CONFETTI EXIT & A GOOD TIME!
After the ceremony was complete and Natalie and Chris had said their “I dos” the guests lined up to take part in a fantastic confetti exit which marked the move from ceremony to reception. On top of that, the rain had finally stopped so we took our chance to get outside and take some photos without brollies, without getting wet and WITH the amazing Yorkshire countryside as a backdrop. The cloudy skies added a fantastic tone and atmosphere to the final photos and in my opinion, created a perfect example of why moodier skies sometimes trump sunny skies when it comes to amazing wedding photos but what do you think?
If you’re planning a wedding and you like the sound of Natalie and Chris’ wedding story and you love their wedding photos then I’d be honoured to be your wedding photographer.
