KIRSTY & DALE SAY "I DO" AT WOODSTOCK

Just a few months ago, I was lucky enough to spend the day at the Woodstock Weddings & Events venue in York, photographing the amazing barn wedding of Kirsty & Dale. This is their wedding story…

Woodstock Weddings is an amazing barn wedding venue with a modern & contemporary twist. The space for Kirsty and Dale’s wedding was a spacious barn which was carefully divided into two areas, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. In the space for the ceremony itself, the large, open window created a beautiful backdrop for some of their wedding photos, offering amazing views out across the farmer’s fields and thanks to the time of year, the autumn sunshine and the carefully harvested hay bails, created an amazing warm colour palette and soft lighting for the photos.

 

The day started in the small on-site shepherd’s huts, where the groom and groomsmen, including Kirsty & Dale’s lovely baby boy, spent the morning in a tangle of ties, getting ready for the big day. This small space was perfect for the group of five to relax, take their time getting ready and have plenty of fun and laughter along the way (helped by a small sip of beer here and there!). I was also lucky enough to capture the special moment Dale opened his “groom to be” card from Kirsty and the importance and meaning of the wedding ahead really sank in.
 

One of the best bits about this wedding at Woodstock Weddings, is the fact that it’s a dog friendly venue! In case you didn’t know already, I’m a HUGE dog fan, and I must admit, when the couple’s Golden Retriever Teddy made an appearance, I was more than excited!

 

A SPOT OF LINKIN PARK AND A VERY GOOD TIME!

 

After a beautiful wedding ceremony, it was time for the party to start. Performing for the afternoon was the fantastically talented Simon Walker, who had guests up on the outside "dancefloor" in no time, giving me the opportunity to take some brilliant pictures of all the action. I have to say, kudos to Kirsty & Dale for allowing Simon to perform some fantastic song choices too - his acoustic version of a Linkin Park classic was definitely my personal favourite.
