A BEAUTIFUL LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING
CORRAN AND JACKSON TIE THE KNOT AT LOWESWATER VILLAGE HALL IN THE LAKE DISTRICT.

In September 2023 I headed out to capture the beautiful wedding of Corran and Jackson at Loweswater Village Hall in, you guessed it, my favourite place, the Lake District. Here’s their wedding story…

-
The wedding venue: Loweswater Village Hall
-
The lovely couple: Corran & Jackson
-
The best bit: jumping in the Jeep for an adventure at Crummock Water Lake
-
The time of year: 2nd September 2023
-
The weather conditions: Sunny - seriously, in the Lakes, unheard of I know!

IF VIEWS COULD KILL

Let's start with the venue, Now Loweswater Village Hall is exactly what you think it is BUT it's set within the absolutely beautiful surroundings of the Lake District, so that pretty much makes it the best village hall in the UK. So yes, we're talking about a village hall surrounded by lakes (obviously), mountains, and green scenery. In short the view from this wedding venue is to die for!

Corran and Jackson had what you might call a DIY wedding and this was the perfect venue for it. Everything was made by either the couple themselves or their friends and family and everything looked beautiful. What makes this venue even more special though and partly why it was a DIY wedding, is because it's basically in the middle of nowhere, like most things in the Lake District and that makes it even more special in my opinion. And seriously when I say in the middle of nowhere, just try Googling it, you won't find much about weddings here because it's seldom used for this kind of thing. On top of all of that, it's also just a five-minute drive away from Crummock Water and Loweswater itself, both stunning lakes but on this occasion we chose Crummock for the wedding photos, and you’ll see why…

MORE AMAZING VIEWS, MAGIC MOMENTS, REVEALS, READINGS AND CONFETTI
The wedding day itself started with the bridal prep, just a short drive away at Scale Hill, which was the accommodation for the wedding. It's a cute little private house with amazing views and it was the perfect place for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready. We also did a bridal reveal to the dad and the bridesmaids here, which was a really magical moment and I'm so glad I was there to capture it. From there we headed over to the village hall and here I just want to say thank goodness for the sunshine, because they were able to have the wedding ceremony outside, surrounded by all those mountains. The wedding was led by their celebrant @julietgoldingcelebrant who did the most precious reading and then after the bride and groom had said their I do's, confetti was thrown down the aisle for that iconic confetti wedding photo moment.
THE JEEP, DOC MARTENS & MORE MOUNTAINS

While the guests were mingling after the wedding ceremony, the Bride, Groom and I jumped in their Jeep for a ride out to Crummock Water. The drive itself was amazing fun and I got some of my favourite photos to date...

Once we'd parked up Corran changed from her bridal heels to her Doc Marten boots and we walked through the woodlands that lead to the lakeside. Once again we had a backdrop of beautiful mountains, yes there is a theme here, and we got some of the most beautiful bride and groom portraits ever. Then we headed back to the reception where they had the speeches and the wedding breakfast, this time inside the village hall, pretty much the only time we were inside all day thanks to the glorious weather.
A small win for me at this wedding because the Bride and Groom cut their cake quite early which was great because it meant people actually ate it, including me! It was served as the dessert at their wedding breakfast and very fitting for a DIY wedding, this wedding cake was made by the Bride herself. After that everyone headed outside for the first dance in the evening sunshine.

THE GOLDEN HOUR OF DREAMS!
Now not that the rest of this wedding wasn't amazing, but we do now arrive at what in my opinion, was that absolute best bit after the Jeep ride of course. Next to the village hall is a huge field and yes you guessed it it's also surrounded by mountains. I spotted the perfect golden hour light shining right onto this area, so I grabbed the bride and groom, asked them to put their drinks down because they were coming with me right there and then. Golden hour sunlight doesn't last long so it was a run around the field with me to get the most gorgeous golden hour wedding photos but hopefully you'll agree it was absolutely worth the run…
Once they got their breath back it was back to the village hall, which was now basically an outside dance floor for a final surprise for their guests. A walking brass band came to keep the dance floor party going. They walked up to the village hall playing and then settled in the outside area, which by the way is still surrounded by mountains. The band even played Africa by Toto, one of my absolute favourites and after that, it was a great moment for me to end my time at this wedding and leave the happy couple and their guests to dance the night away.
In case it hasn't come across already, I bloody love the Lake District and I would happily travel there all year round to capture weddings, so if you are thinking of getting married in the Lake District and you like the sound of Corran and Jackson's wedding story or better yet, if you love their wedding photos, then let's talk about your Lake District wedding.

P.S. Thanks to my camper van, Patricia the Pergeout, there won't be any extra travel costs to pay either!
