Georgia and Will were married at The Pumping House in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, on Valentine’s Day 2026. A grey winter morning soon opened into clear skies and soft sunshine, the perfect backdrop for their elegant black-and-white celebration and one very joyful confetti exit.
Their wedding was the perfect balance of timeless elegance and modern romance.
After weeks of dull winter weather, the 14th of February brought something very unexpected. Soft sunlight poured through the venue’s iconic windows, lifting the entire atmosphere and setting the tone for a day filled with emotion, light and understated celebration.
Captured across both photography and a wedding highlight film, their day was a true reflection of everything I love about documentary storytelling. Honest moments, beautiful light, and a story unfolding naturally from beginning to end.
A LIGHT-FILLED INDUSTRIAL WEDDING AT THE PUMPING HOUSE
The Pumping House is one of those venues that photographers quietly fall in love with, and I am no exception.
Its industrial architecture is softened by huge arched windows and an abundance of natural light, creating a space that feels both striking and welcoming. From the ceremony room through to the wedding breakfast space, every part of the venue is designed to be filled with light, making it ideal for natural, documentary-style photography.
The dual-level bridal suite offers plenty of space for a calm, uncluttered morning, while the main reception room, complete with a balcony above, allows for unique overhead perspectives and beautifully lit tables throughout the day.
For couples planning a wedding at The Pumping House, it is a venue that works effortlessly in every season, but it feels especially special in winter when the softer light adds something really atmospheric.
A TIMELESS BLACK AND WHITE WEDDING MORNING
Georgia and her bridesmaids got ready in the light-filled bridal suite, all dressed in elegant black gowns, setting the tone for a classic monochrome aesthetic that carried throughout the day.
Georgia’s dress was stunning, with detachable sleeves that transformed her look later in the evening. It is a small detail, but one that added a lovely sense of progression to the story of the day.
Meanwhile, Will and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos, perfectly complementing the overall styling. Everything felt cohesive, modern and timeless without ever feeling overdone.
A CEREMONY FILLED WITH EMOTION
The ceremony was beautifully emotional, the kind where you could feel the atmosphere shift as everyone became fully present in the moment.
There were so many meaningful touches woven throughout, creating a real sense of depth and connection. Not a dry eye in the room, and a quiet reminder of what weddings are really about at their core.
CONFETTI IN THE WINTER SUNSHINE
Following the ceremony, guests gathered outside on the steps for the confetti throw, one of the most visually striking parts of the day.
With guests positioned both alongside and above the happy couple, the moment unfolded in layers, creating movement, colour and energy, all framed by The Pumping House’s industrial façade and the winter sunshine.
It is always one of my favourite moments to capture, and this one felt particularly special.
RELAXED PORTRAITS IN WINTER LIGHT
We took a relaxed wander through the gardens for portraits, making the most of the golden winter light. The combination of clean architectural lines and soft natural light created the perfect setting, allowing everything to feel effortless and unforced. No awkward posing, just space to move, breathe and be present together.
Later in the evening, we stepped back outside for a second set of portraits beneath festoon lights strung through the trees. The atmosphere had completely shifted. Softer, quieter and more intimate, offering a beautiful contrast to the brightness of earlier in the day.
A LIGHT-FILLED WEDDING BREAKFAST SPACE
Inside, the reception room felt bright and full of life.
Large windows illuminated the tables, where white roses stood out against the black and white styling, simple and elegant in a way that worked perfectly with the industrial setting.
From the balcony above, the space took on a completely different perspective, offering a full view of the room and capturing the atmosphere in a way that ground-level photography can’t always achieve.
Speeches followed, continuing the emotional thread of the day. Heartfelt, personal and full of meaning.
AN EVENING OF CELEBRATION
As the day moved into evening, Georgia transformed her look by removing the sleeves from her dress, marking a natural transition from ceremony to celebration.
Their first dance was surrounded by all of their guests, before gradually giving way to a packed dance floor and a completely different energy. Joyful, relaxed and full of life.
