A COURTYARD GARDEN WEDDING IN TAMWORTH...
LAURA & WILL GET MARRIED AT THORPE GARDEN IN TAMWORTH, STAFFORSHIRE
On the 21st September, I headed down to Thorpe Garden in Staffordshire to capture Laura and Will’s special day. Here’s their wedding story…

-
The wedding venue: Thorpe Garden in Tamworth
-
The lovely couple: Laura & Will
-
The best bit: golden hour portraits or maybe the crumble and custard dessert 🤔
-
The time of year: 21st September 2023 (anyone else hearing September by Earth, Wind, Fire in their heads right now?)
-
The weather conditions: sunshine all day apart from just one rainy moment…

A WEDDING WITH WALLED GARDENS, COURTYARD FIRE PITS AND A FAIRY LIGHT YURT.

Set within walled gardens, with an abundance of pretty flowers, Thorpe Garden really is a beautiful wedding venue. There’s a large courtyard, where Laura, Will and their guests toasted marshmallows over fire pits in the evening and the ceremony room has an entire wall of windows which creates the perfect lighting for some amazing photos. The windows also mean you can see through into the kitchens too where the team from Cripps and Co were hard at work preparing food for the wedding breakfast.
And as if all that wasn’t impressive enough, the reception room is a magical handcrafted yurt, filled with fairy lights and the guest rooms, including the “glam room” where the bridal party got ready for the big day is beyond amazing and I’ll tell you more about all this in a few sentences time…
THE "GLAM ROOM", THE CEREMONY AND THE COURTYARD
Laura and Will’s big day started with bridal prep in the glam room, now I said I’d tell you more about this, but seeing as a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll keep it brief and let the photos do the talking so here goes… there were SIX perfectly lit hair and make up stations, lots of natural light and mirrors absolutely everywhere!
In this space, not only did we do a bridal reveal to the father of the bride, but the bridesmaids as well and then whenever one was fully glammed up, we were ready to walk over to the ceremony. Now remember I said it was sunny all day apart from one rainy moment, yes you guessed it, this is when the rain started! Thank you Great British weather. So although it was more of a stomp than a stroll to the ceremony room though the rain, I did still manage to get some great photos of the bridal party making their way there.
The ceremony itself was lovely, with readings from both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom, and thankfully the rain stopped as soon as the ceremony ended and Laura and Will got their wedding confetti moment in the beautiful gardens.
MINGLING IN THE COURTYARD, GARDEN PORTRAITS AND SMORE(S)!
After the ceremony, guests were left to mingle and be entertained in the courtyard with music from the 3 piece band (two guitars and a cajon) @dammitjack who stayed for the whole of the evening’s entertainment. With everybody happy sipping drinks and getting the reception party started, I whisked the bride and groom off for some amazing wedding portraits in the gardens, and they came out perfectly (even if I do say so myself).
