What’s In Store for 2024?

Even more weddings, a few proposals, continuing drum lessons and plenty of excitement!

I know it always sounds far too early to say it, but as the first month of 2024 comes to a close, I thought I’d take this opportunity to settle down with a vanilla latte, and write you all a little sneak peek into what’s on the horizon for the rest of 2024, and already I can tell you one thing, it’s shaping up to be another interesting, exciting and promising year!

So okay, admittedly this first item on the list isn’t kicking off in 2024 at all, but just nodding back to December 2023, it’s worth saying that I photographed weddings at the Pumping House and New Craven Hall plus, I also had the amazing opportunity to photograph another surprise proposal in one of my favourite places in the whole world - yes you guessed it, the Lake District. Keep your eyes peeled for updates, photos and news on all of these very soon!

Now just before I move on to sharing some of my plans for 2024, I have to share a thought that’s been on my mind a lot of late so here it is… why don’t more people get married in December? Personally I love the Christmas wedding season. With the winter sunshine, sparkling frosts, the potential for snow, mistletoe, holly, ivy, spruce trees, hot chocolates, Christmas spices, mulled wine…frankly I think it’s bloody lovely so with that in mind, here's hoping for more winter weddings and Christmas celebrations over 2024 - it’s never too early to book your wedding photographer after all (as long as you have a date and a venue).

Now, without further ado, let’s move on to 2024 itself…

I can already tell you that I was BEYOND excited to capture an elopement in Edinburgh on January 8th for Kaya and Louis - keep your eyes peeled for more on this very soon. Other than that, January has mainly been a month of getting my ducks in a row, doing my admin jobs, planning my diary and finishing my editing for 2023 because once things get going from February… they don’t really slow down!

It all really kicks off on February 16th, when I’ll be back in The Lakes, Ulverston to be precise, photographing a very personal wedding for a couple who are lucky enough to call this their hometown (jealous). Then on February 24th I’ll be at Holmes Mill with Tori and Kyle, which will be an extra special wedding to photograph for me, as I was also lucky enough to do their pre-wedding engagement photoshoot which you can see here. It’s always a privilege to be chosen to photograph anyone’s wedding day, but I have to say it’s even more special when you’ve been a part of the couple’s journey from the very beginning, so I am very much looking forward to this one. And speaking of being part of a couple’s whole wedding journey, February 25th marks the date for another pre-wedding photoshoot, complete with the couple’s pet greyhound, ahead of their summer wedding on August 2nd!

On March 11th it’s my birthday and then at the end of the month I’m returning to Woodstock Weddings in York on 30th March to capture Katie and Robert’s special day, and this’ll be my second time shooting a wedding at Woodstock after I was there with Kirsty and Dale in September 2022 - so please do check out their amazing wedding story if you haven’t already. Then the very next day, March 31st I am over at Knowsley Hall with Georgina and Ryan to capture their big day - all in the same weekend - it’ll be busy but I have no doubt it’ll be brilliant as well.

In April I have 3 weddings, one at King’s Croft in Pontefract, a local wedding venue for me, another one in Halifax at The Venue, Bowers Mill and the third one at Lodge Farm in York, which now I come to think about it, is three Yorkshire weddings! In May it ramps up to four weddings in one month, including one that’s a joint booking with my other half, Connor Walsh Music (he’s a bloody brilliant acoustic singer if you didn’t already know). And speaking of doing weddings with my other half, in June me and Connor are doing our first joint destination wedding in Tuscany on the 1st June, and needless to say, we’re both super excited about that one. On top of that I have four other weddings to shoot including Ruby and Kerry’s wedding, another couple I was lucky enough to do their surprise wedding proposal shoot for!

In July things get really busy, with six weddings in one month, including another destination wedding, this time in Puerto Pollensa in Majorca. Interestingly, three of these July weddings are Monday weddings - is Monday the new Saturday, who knows?! What I will say is, it certainly keeps me busy which is great. And speaking of busy, the wedding season in 2024 peaks for me in August when I have no less than SEVEN weddings booked in, which sees me travelling between Yorkshire, The Lake District, The Peak District and Saltburn-By-The-Sea. I’ll be back at one of my favourite wedding venues, Thorpe Gardens and I’ll be heading back to Majorca, although this time for a very much needed mini break with my girl friends. It’s going to be crazy but it’s going to be great!

And as if all of that wasn’t enough, my drum lessons are still ongoing, my camper van is still in use and more wedding bookings are coming in each and every week. I cannot tell you how excited I am to continue my journey as a professional wedding photographer into 2024 and I am looking forward to sharing even more photos of my lovely couples throughout the year - watch this space and if you’re tying the knot and need a wedding photographer, let’s have a chat.
